January 2008
The Turks & Caicos Preservation Foundation has publicly lauched its fundraising campaign to restore Government House in Salt Cay. The effort was announced at a Historic tour organized in conjunction with The Turks & Caicos National Trust, which is Responsible for the building and the surrounding grounds.
The preservation exercise will be entrusted to Lee & Astwood Architects, which has recently overseen the completion of restoration works at Sunnyside, formerly known as the Brown House.
With a preliminary budget set at $600k, work is expected to begin once the charities have raised approximately 50% of the required amount. The tour itself generated some $12k over 3 hours alone, demonstrating keen support by some friends of Salt Cay. In total, approximately $120k has been solicited so far.
