2009.06 Conch World opens

Residents of the islands of Grand Turk can now stand proud as the much anticipated soft opening of the islands' first Conch World was was held this Monday, June 1st, 2009, allowing residents, tourist and future visitors to the island to enjoy the conch themed enviroment.Lee & Astwood provided Architectural and Engineering services to Cockburn Village and Farms, the developer of the unique destination.

This is an attraction dedicated to the Queen Conch Strombus Gigas, including a theater, museum exhibits, and live animals. It also features the architecture, history, and culture of the Lucayan people who lived on Grand Turk one thousand years ago.Additionally, it looks back on life on Grand Turk when salt was king and this tiny island was surrounded by feuding imperial powers and adventure on the high seas. The site also features a secluded beach, and canal providing access to a variety of water sports activities.

There is a restaurant and bar as well as nature trails highlighting indigenous vegetation. Retail shops integrated into the attractions feature authentic, locally-produced merchandise.
