Provo National Museum

The Turks & Caicos National Museum located on Grand Turk has been pursuing a dream for the past 10 years of expanding to Providenciales. A critical mass of local and international interest has sparked a growing momentum towards realizing that dream. The Board of Trustees commissioned Lee & Astwood Architects to produce a conceptual design for presentation at a gala fundraiser, which signals the beginning of a discussion of what the Provo National Museum ought to be.

Beginning with a draft space program provided by the National Museum's director, and informed by several of the Museum's Trustees as well as the experience of life in Providenciales' climate and culture, Lee & Astwood has crafted an arrangement of functional spaces and skinned them in a modern and graceful container. Envisioned to be developed in phases, the introductory phase would occupy 10,000 square feet.

Building on this visualisation as a springboard, the project is now in Design Development with the collaborative input of local users, contributors, donors, the museum operators and other stakeholders.
